Ungan Zenko Bill Mayhew

Ungan Zenko Bill Mayhew started his dharma study with Eido Tai Shimano, a Rinzai Buddhist priest at Dai Bosatsu Zendo Kongo-Ji monastery in the Catskill mountains of New York from 1997 until 2004.

He then practiced with Gentei Sandy Stewart, a Rinzai Buddhist abbot and osho of the North Carolina Zen Center in Pittsboro until 2015. Sandy was a longtime student of Kyozan Joshu Sasaki.

Bill then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and began sitting with Dr. Seigetsu Roger Chochran at the Great Cloud Sangha (formerly Jacksonville Zen Meditation Center).

Later, Bill became a student of Zenkai Taiun Michael Elliston of the Silent Thunder Order.  Upon Seigetsu's return to Atlanta, Bill was designated as Practice Leader of the Great Cloud Sangha.

He was ordained as a Novice Priest in 2019.
